The Relationship between Self-Compassion, Social Connectedness and Depressive Symptoms among University Students

The purpose of this research is to examine and explore the affiliation between Self-compassion, social connectedness Depressive symptoms among university students belonging age group 18-25 years. study was cross-sectional in design. This conducted Shifa Tameer-e-Millet University, Rawalpindi/Islamabad. duration from October 2021 September 2022. Quaid-e-Azam International Islamic Arid Agriculture Bahria NUST, Air University were universities Islamabad which data gathered. A survey collect different Islamabad. 215 participated 52% percent females 48% males. three measures used Social Connectedness scale-revised (SCS-R), Self-Compassion Scale Short Form (SCSSF) lastly, Centre for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale-Revised (CESD-R). findings showed that self-compassion have a significant negative relationship with depressive symptoms. Moreover, depicted had positive Self Compassion. demonstrated negatively results t-test analysis depression more prevalent female population than concluded decreases increases self-compassion. It also are vulnerable symptoms.The suggest fostering self compassion enhancing could potentially contribute reducing demographic. Additionally, recognizing higher vulnerability underscores importance gender-sensitive mental health interventions.
